STARDOM AHEAD FOR YOUNG ACTOR?

He doesn’t look like a teacher: he looks like a young star. But he has a California teaching certificate and has taught in the Los Angeles school district area. “In those lean days after my arrival in Hollywood I taught physical education as a substitute teacher.” It was a top way to keep in shape. He worked out with four or five classes a day. His major degree in physical education from Mississippi State was put to good use.

The 5’11”, 175 lb. actor is as fit as they come. He’s still devoted to active sports, and this helps him keep in shape. He skis, and has a private pilot’s license.

Peterson is a former star half hack for the famed Mississippi State Bulldogs, one of the top college teams in the country. But football is something from his collegiate days. Now he is a young man dedicated to a career, and working with a young dedication for it. He takes drama classes three or four times a week with actor James Best. It was at one of those classes that he heard about the part in “The Cool Ones.” He tested and hit the bulls-eye. Desert Sun, Number 307, 29 July 1966.
